A Walk Along The Victoria Harbour, Tsim Sha Tsui

On the occasion of my husband’s birthday (13th Feb), he and I decided to celebrate the day by paying a visit to the newly reopened Avenue of Stars located on the Tsim Sha Tsui promenade and spend some good quality time with each other. Well, I should have titled this post as “A walk to remember” instead of “A walk along the Victoria harbour”. I know it is February, love is in the air but no, I am talking about something else, not any romantic story! To know what that is, please keep reading.

To begin with, let me throw some light on this beautiful place. Tsim Sha Tsui promenade is one of the top tourist attractions in Hong Kong that boasts the iconic “Avenue of Stars” featuring statues and palm prints of Fame Asian actors & directors. We have been to Tsim Sha Tsui so many times for shopping or eating out but never visited this particular waterfront area. The promenade offers a spectacular view of Hong Kong skyline. I just couldn’t stop myself from filming the scene and here THE STORY begins-

## I took my husband’s phone for doing video and asked him to capture still images on my camera. I tapped the shutter button for video and was going with the flow of the picturesque visuals. After a while, I realized, Oh God! Where am I and where is he? I looked back and he was not behind me! The area is not that huge but the very thought of losing him made me sick!! I started looking for my hubby along the harbour but there was no sign of him! His phone was with me so even if I wanted I couldn’t contact him or vice versa. Moreover, we were new to that place so both of us had no idea who is the point of contact at this tourist place if someone gets lost! The sun was about to set and the place was getting crowded with tourists; I got worried literally that time!  I spotted one security person near a statue but upon showing him my husband’s photo, all he replied “SORRY”. I was feeling so helpless at that time, got all misty-eyed and my heart was pounding like crazy, yet I didn’t give up. There is a gallery kind of setting overlooking the harbour and adjacent to the main entrance. I decided to stay there and wait. Meanwhile, I spotted the birthday boy all tensed, petrified, red-faced, looking for me amongst the crowd. I rushed towards him, expressed anger & apologized too all at the same time and finally the Happy Ending 😍!!##

My Lifeline!

Now that was the scariest moment of our lives and we will never forget this incident which happened while taking a walk along the harbour!! Nevertheless, I am now learning to roam around this city alone, so that next time if such a thing happens, we can face it calmly.

Since on his birthday we planned for a casual day out, I decided to wear the most comfortable outfit. I generally do not follow any strict fashion trend. I like to wear whatever I have in my closet that moment or my mood signals! Here, I opted for Dark-Mute colour combination and tight-wide pattern theme. I chose to wear an olive green coloured zip through neck solid body-hugging sweater and paired it with a loose fit muted red & grey coloured checked trousers.

As the season is spring, I wanted to wear something that would feel light and cozy yet would keep my body warm throughout the day. The outfit felt super comfy while doing all touristy activities. As I need to wear kneecaps for my knee pain always under the pants or skirts, these flowy checked trousers with a belt included gave the much-needed comfort yet looked great!

These above pictures were taken in Central after having our lunch at Bombay Dreams restaurant. No trip to Central Hong Kong would be complete without visiting this place known as the Pottinger Street or Stone Slab Street. There is a history attached to it, more on this on my next post! After the photography session, we went straight to Tsim Sha Tsui and took more pictures 😁.

I love the knitted leaf kind of pattern along the sides of the long sleeves on this soft sweater. The sweater has a zip through neck design but it can also be worn as a simple turtleneck top like the way I’ve worn here, best if you want to cover your neck for extra warmth! For extremely cold days, I would prefer an overcoat or jacket to wear on the top of this sweater.

I opted for minimal makeup to keep the overall look simple yet elegant:)

If you look at these photos carefully from top to bottom, you will notice that there is a golden touch to the overall look! To match the outfit and theme, I wore tiny golden drop earrings, a stone-studded rose gold watch and pure gold rings on my fingers.

I kept my half-straight-half-wavy hair open for the look but it was windy on the waterfront area so I had to wear a headband to manage my hair. I completed the whole look by wearing rose gold loafers and a black bag with golden detailing.

  4. really loving the outfit... we used to go tsim-sha-tsui harbour a lot, really loved silently sitting there admiring the view and dragon boats and enjoying the breeze... very important to learn to roam around alone. Hongkong is pretty organized public transport wise...

  7. I haven't been into that area of Hongkong but I will make sure I will the next time I set foot in there. That is quite a story, I remember I also lost sight of my second son when he was a toddler in Hongkong too while we were shopping. That was one of the scariest moments in my life. I like your pants, plaid prints are classic.
