How to get rid of dry, sensitive skin in winter naturally (Homemade DIYs)?
Getting rid of the dry and sensitive skin using all sorts of medication isn’t the best solution, especially because you need to keep your skin healthy. Since you have a sensitive epidermis, chemicals might cause adverse reactions like rashes or more acne breakouts. This is why we have discussed some of the best natural dry skin remedies (face masks) and skin care tips for winters 2022.
1. Aloe vera gel with cocoa butter face mask for dry skin:
The first pack that you can use to get rid of your skin's sensitivity and dryness is the cocoa butter and aloe vera pack. Cocoa butter is rich in antioxidants, which will provide proper nourishment to your skin. On the other hand, the aloe vera gel has hydrating properties since it traps in the moisture, thereby keeping your skin smooth and supple.

How to make this face mask (Procedure)-
- Take one teaspoon of both the ingredients in a bowl and add a little amount of ginger paste in it (Ginger contains powerful antiseptic and cleansing qualities), provided you want to remove the excess dirt.
- Mix all the ingredients properly and then apply it to your face. Make sure to cover all the areas. Also, the mask should be thickly applied to prevent excess drying.
- Keep it on for fifteen minutes, after which you can wash it off.
Kindly note, there are no known side effects of ginger. However, it is always recommended to patch test when trying a new skincare ingredient :)
2. Milk cream and honey face mask for dry skin:
How to make this face mask (Procedure) -
- Take the milk cream in a small amount and add liquid honey to it. It is better to use unrefined honey for the skin as it is high in all the desirable components required for maintaining the health of the skin in winters.
- Mix everything in proper proportion and then apply it to your skin. You won’t have to worry about the mixture getting dry since all the components have high moisture content.
3. Aloe vera with almond oil face mask for dry skin:
Another fantastic way to know ‘how to keep skin hydrated in winter’ is by using a face mask made from aloe vera pulp and almond oil. The pulp of this plant allows your skin to rejuvenate itself and also acts on the skin scrapes. On the other hand, the almond oil will help in trapping the moisture in, thereby helping your skin become supple.

How to make this face mask (Procedure) -
- Take the pulp of the aloe vera plant and add two teaspoons of the almond oil. Make sure the oil is fresh to avoid any allergic reaction on the skin.
- Mix the contents well to produce a smooth paste. Apply it on your skin evenly and allow it to dry for fifteen minutes.
- Once the time is over, wash the layer and apply a water-based moisturizer on the face.
4. Yogurt, Honey, Vitamin E Face mask for dry skin:
How to make this face mask (Procedure) -
- For this simple home-made face mask, take 2-4 tsp plain Greek yogurt or homemade curd (unflavoured)
- To this, add 1 tsp honey and 1 vitamin e capsule oil (I use Evion 400g). Break the capsule, extract the oil and mix it with the mask. If you have any other Vitamin E oil, you can add a few drops of it, otherwise one capsule would suffice the purpose.
- Apply a thick layer of this mask to your face and neck and keep it for 15 minutes at least. Wash off with tepid water.
What types of winter skincare for dry, acne-prone skin will be the best?
Apart from the masks, there are other things that you need to take care of if you want to keep your skin healthy in the winter. These steps are:
- Drink a lot of water and natural fruit juices as this will keep your body hydrated enough to prevent skin drying.
- Use natural moisturizers like coconut oil/almond oil/olive oil, shea butter, and so on before going to bed at night.
- Eat plenty of healthy foods to prevent acne breakout and skin dryness
