The cleansing agents in this organic shampoo are -

Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate (Vegetable)- A cleansing agent that's popular in "syndet bars" (soapless soaps) for its good foaming properties. It’s a good sulphate and won’t strip away hair moisture or colour.

Lauryl Glucoside (Vegetable)- A 100% vegetable origin, biodegradable, mild cleansing agent that gives moderate to high amount of foam.

Sodium Cocoamphoacetate (Vegetable)- A clear,  yellowish liquid that works as a cleansing agent. Sodium Cocoamphoacetate very mild with great foaming properties. It's popular in baby products.

Cocamidopropyl Betaine (Vegetable)- it is mild and it works very well combined with other cleansing agents and surfactants. one more nice thing: even though it’s synthetic it’s highly biodegradable.

Coco-Glucoside (Vegetable)- A vegetable origin (coconut/palm kernel oil, glucose) cleansing agent that gives moderate to high stable foam. It's also biodegradable and mild to the skin.

My Experience with Beauty Kitchen Everyday Gentle Organic Shampoo (Review)

(My hair type - oily, itchy scalp with dry hair ends, thin hair, mid-back length)

Do you use shampoo every day? I don’t! Although this claims to be an everyday shampoo, I only use it twice a week. I’ll go bald soon if I start shampooing my hair every day! We have hard water here. Hence, it would do my hair more harm than good. I’ve been using this shampoo and its partner conditioner for the past few months, and today, I am sharing my take on the shampoo.

Product Packaging:

We have a lot to talk about its packaging! I got the big 300ml product which comes in an aluminium bottle secured with a screw cap. The brand is trying to improve sustainability, so this shampoo is now sold without a pump. Also, the packaging is recyclable. Their 'Return • Refill • Repeat’ scheme allows customers to send their packaging back to them, and they will wash and reuse it in the next batch. I will return the empties too!

Beauty Kitchen Everyday Gentle Organic Shampoo Packaging Review
Packaging | Beauty Kitchen Everyday Gentle Organic Shampoo

The brand says that all our products feature the ‘Zero Plastics Inside’ badge, an initiative set up by the Plastic Soup Foundation. It confirms that our products contain no microplastics! Some microplastics are small enough to be absorbed by our skin and ocean life, which could have potentially damaging effects. Also, the containers feature Rock Paper Label - sustainable and water-resistant, made from 80% limestone dust (a “waste” product) and made using no water and bleach. Applied using ultra low-tack adhesive, so they can be easily removed for reusing bottles and jars.

The packaging is spill-proof and travel-friendly. I prefer to travel with sample-sized bottles, though! Besides, you need to clean the bottle after every use. Otherwise, products build up around the cap. You can find all the product-related details, like ingredients and shelf-life labelled on the packaging!

Product Texture:

Beauty Kitchen Everyday gentle organic shampoo has a gel texture with a runny consistency. It is completely fragrance-free. If you have used aloe vera gel before, then know this shampoo is just the same!

Product Performance (What it does):

To cleanse my hair, I take two full caps of this shampoo and mix it with little warm water in a mug. I have this habit of mixing shampoo with water first and then applying it liberally to my scalp and hair. I find this process easier than applying shampoo directly to my scalp! What about you?

When you pour this shampoo into your palm or onto your hair, it will feel like you are applying the aloe vera gel mask. The shampoo has the same mild slimy texture and fragrance! I know it’s totally fragrance-free as per its ingredients list. However, I am a super smeller, and my nose can detect its sweet, subtle scent 😜. Anyway, after massaging my hair for a few seconds, I wash it off with tepid water. The shampoo gets cleansed easily and doesn’t leave my hair feeling stripped👌🏻.

Now, here comes the most interesting part! How does my hair feel after cleansing with Beauty Kitchen everyday gentle organic shampoo?

Oily or Hair Mask or Bad hair days -

Sometimes when I get sick, I totally skip washing my hair for 4-5 days until I feel good. So, naturally, my hair becomes super greasy, heavy, and dirty. On such bad hair days or when I use a hair mask or oil, cleansing my tresses with this shampoo becomes a terrible task!

No matter how much shampoo I use to cleanse my scalp, my hair doesn’t feel clean at the end of the hair wash! The number one reason, it doesn’t lather 🫤. And I have a THING for foamy shampoos! Since it has no harmful ingredients, including sulphates, it produces a mild bubble lather. Secondly, on such days, to get that squeaky clean scalp and hair, I need to apply a generous amount of this shampoo twice and rinse my greasy hair multiple times with hard water. The hard water has already damaged my hair! So honestly, I don't like washing my hair multiple times 😒. I skip the conditioning part on oily hair days!

The worst part is there are days, when even after doing all this, my hair look oily, flat with no shine 😐!!

*Lesson learned - Do not use this shampoo on party days, use another natural product!*

Non-oily or Normal hair days-

It works great on my normal non-oily hair. It cleanses my hair thoroughly without stripping away natural oils and colour, plus does not need too much product (more than two caps) or double shampooing for the same. Post-hair wash, my hair looks nice, soft, and manageable 🙂. Of course, it lacks shine, but for natural shampoos, that’s FINE. The clean effect lasts for about 2-3 days. I always follow it with either its partner gentle conditioner or another product.

I cannot deny the fact that it’s absolutely an organic, chemical-free, sustainable hair product. Hence, using this mild shampoo every day or multiple times will do no harm to my hair. The hard water is my issue here, not this shampoo 😒! I have PCOD, so I don’t expect it to reduce my hair fall. Plus, the more you use it, the soon you’ll empty it. I’ve already finished 80% of this big 300ml bottle. And mind you, this is not cheap!

I can see the same normal hair fall rate in the shower while washing my hair with this Beauty Kitchen organic shampoo. Thankfully, I have never experienced itchy or flaky scalp issues with this one! Moreover, it’s gentle, effective, and environmental-friendly. Unlike other herbal or natural shampoos that make my hair super dry, it leaves moisturised ❤️

I’ve also noticed that it’s true to its claim of protecting the hair colour 😍! You know that I dye my hair with henna every month. And since this gentle shampoo doesn’t contain sulphates, it helps retain the hair colour for a long time. Overall, the Beauty Kitchen gentle organic shampoo is my go-to hair cleanser for regular use!

  • Gentle product
  • Pure organic shampoo
  • Has no nasty chemicals like SLS/SLES, Parabens
  • Recyclable packaging and eco-friendly
  • Has no fragrance and essential oils, good for people with sensitive noses
  • Has powerful, goodie hair care ingredients
  • Deeply cleanses the hair while soothing the scalp
  • Leaves hair nourished and soft
  • Hair feels clean, not stripped and dry
  • Helps protect the hair colour
  • No scalp itchiness
  • No major hair fall
  • Great for normal to dry hair types
  • Great for coloured hair

Things I dislike about Beauty Kitchen Everyday Gentle Organic Shampoo:

  • It doesn’t add volume/bounce to the hair; it doesn’t claim this either!
  • I wish the brand had launched this shampoo in small travel-sized bottles too! The 300ml aluminium metal bottle is spill-proof, but it’ll occupy a larger space in your travel bag!
  • The product won’t last you long! I need to use a copious amount of this shampoo each time to clean my mid-back-length hair, and I am about to finish it very soon!
  • Sometimes it leaves my hair looking dull and flat, even after shampooing hair 2-3 times! I am not against double shampooing, but it should give me the FINE result afterwards. :(
  • Pricey to some!
